Renata Chlumska

Renata Chlumska is Sweden’s foremost female adventurer with incredible achievements such as paddling around the USA and climbing the “Seven Summits,” the highest peaks on all seven continents. To make projects like these possible, Renata emphasizes the importance of her team; while the achievement is hers, it would not have been possible without her team.

“It’s just like in a workplace,” says Renata. Some people are more visible, and others are less so. If we have the right people in the right positions and make everyone feel and understand that their role is extremely important, we have the best chance of achieving the overall goal. The result depends on how well we build the team.

Renata Chlumska’s Lecture

Renata’s lecture is a mix of amazing stories from worlds far from ours but with the potential to connect and draw parallels with more everyday challenges. Even though the places are far from a somewhat “typical” work environment, the preparations, execution, and challenges are closely related to workplace questions regarding leadership, teamwork, and change processes.

Renata Chlumska is a professional adventurer. As the first Swedish woman, she climbed the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest, at the age of 25, and then cycled back to Sweden. Renata is also an entrepreneur, now with a clothing brand for women.

She works with both extended training programs and inspirational lectures. She talks about her adventures and what they bring, as well as what it takes to make such expeditions possible: motivation, adaptability, goal orientation, and risk assessment. Adventures of this caliber are extensive projects that involve many people, and success requires a strong and dedicated team. How to lead the project, build the team, and lead oneself, others, and the overall goal are natural aspects of Renata’s life and lectures.

Renata was the base camp manager for Göran Kropp’s expedition to Everest and was responsible for the film team four years before she herself climbed Mount Everest. Climbing a mountain, in many respects, is similar to running a business. It’s about vision, goals, means, and getting the right things done. The risk is a bit higher, and most importantly, it’s about attitude.

Currently, Renata is working on her next project: to become the first Swedish woman to travel to the moon and climb the moon’s highest peak, Mons Huygens, which is 5000 meters high.
