Anders Hansen

Anders Hansen is a psychiatrist, speaker, and popular TV show host with his docuseries about the mysteries of the human brain. He trained at the Karolinska Institute, holds an MBA from Stockholm’s School of Economics, and is a published author of several books on the brain.

Anders has published several bestselling books and is arguably Sweden’s favorite expert on the topic of the brain and health matters. To date, he has sold more than 2 million copies and spent nearly one consecutive year on the Swedish bestseller list.

His very popular book “Hjärnstark” or “The Real Happy Pill” shows you how to be more creative, and boost your memory, mood, focus, and stress tolerance through movement. Physical activity has remarkable effects on the human brain. Physical activity, more so than Sudoku or crossword puzzles, optimizes our mental abilities and health in a way unparalleled by any drug, medication, or food supplement. And exercise doesn’t just enhance your health, energy, mood levels, and cognitive abilities.

His book “The Happiness Cure” has been published in thirty-three countries, including Brazil, Germany, Poland, Russia, China, Japan, and Turkey. He is the winner of the Book of the Year “Big Health Award 2017” and Sweden’s Mensa Prize 2018.

The thesis in the book “The Happiness Cure” is that we as a species never had it so good as we do today. We’re living longer and healthier lives than ever before the sum of human knowledge and endless entertainment is only ever a few clicks away. So why are we in the midst of a mental health crisis?

The Happiness Cure offers a radical new way to think about fulfillment. Blending neuroscientific research and empirical breakthroughs with stories of ordinary individuals, Anders Hansen reveals that by adopting an evolutionary take on life, we can re-set our perspective on happiness to find longer-term meaning and lasting contentment.

Anders Hansen has hosted his show on Swedish television, called “Your Brain” for several seasons, which featured guest experts including Steven Pinker, Yuval Harari, Robert Sapolsky, Dr. Susan Greenfield, and Richard Dawkins.

He has also received acclaim for his public speaking, notably a 2018 TED Talk, “Why the Brain is Built for Movement”.
