Sweden’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic stood out from the rest of the world, as it was very restrictive with lockdowns, school closures, and the use of face masks. Sweden built its strategy around voluntariness instead of coercion.<\/p>\n

At the forefront was the Swedish state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell. Under extreme pressure, he was constantly questioned but chose to stand up for the Swedish approach.<\/p>\n

“It is too early to say what works \u2013 we will know in a few years” was repeated like a mantra. Now, a few years have passed…<\/p>\n
