Oskar Kihlborg
Oskar Kihlborg is one of Sweden’s most experienced adventurers and speakers, with over 30 years of expeditions spanning from dense jungles to arctic climates—situations where human trust, group collaboration, and inner drive are constantly put to the test. In 1990, together with Mikael Reuterswärd, Oskar became the first Swede to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
He has participated in five Himalayan expeditions, set a world record in Atlantic sailing, and founded the education company Svenska Äventyr. Oskar was also the expedition leader in the acclaimed Swedish TV series Mot alla odds (“Against All Odds”), where he led ten people with disabilities across Nicaragua over the course of 28 days. He is also the creator of the VASKA concept, which defines the core qualities needed for a high-performing team.
In recent years, Oskar has shifted his focus toward more sustainable forms of adventure. In 2019, he published the book “Skärgården upp och ner” (“The Archipelago Upside Down”), addressing environmental issues in the Baltic Sea. He also leads a visual climate project where he covers glaciers with wool blankets to raise awareness of climate change. Additionally, he is a diver with Rena Mälaren, diving year-round to retrieve hazardous waste from Swedish waters.
