Maddy Savage is a British freelance BBC journalist, podcaster and documentary producer based in Stockholm since 2014. Her journalism primarily focuses on innovation, tech, sustainability and workplace trends. Maddy combines years of industry experience with the energy and perspective of a millennial professional – earning praise for her presence, adaptability, and modern approach.

As a sought-after English-speaking moderator, Maddy Savage has extensive experience leading large-scale English-language events throughout the Nordic region, including Nordic Business Forum, NextM, and Gather Festival.

Maddy has hosted at Tech Arena for two consecutive years and interviewed some really big names at Nordic Business Forum, including Simon Sinek, Brené Brown, and Sara Blakely.

Alongside working with the BBC, Maddy has freelanced as a foreign correspondent for global media including Times Radio, Monocle, NPR, and The Telegraph. She previously held staff positions as Editor of The Local Sweden’s largest English-language newspaper, The Local, and as a London-based reporter and presenter for various BBC national and global news programmes.

From 2016 to 2018, Maddy presented and produced The Stockholmer podcast in which she interviewed inspiring entrepreneurs in the Swedish capital. She also hosted Åre Unzipped, a Storyspot podcast series about the startup scene in Åre.

Maddy has an academic background, and won a BBC scholarship to study a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism at Cardiff University. She also holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University.

She has recently moderated panels and round-table discussions for academic and research organisations including The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) and The Swedish Entrepreneurship Forum (Entreprenörskapsforum).
