Micael Dahlen

Micael Dahlen is a professor of economics at the Stockholm School of Economics and a popular speaker both in Sweden and internationally. He has spoken in cities such as Shanghai, New York, Istanbul, and Lisbon, for clients including Google, Ericsson, Samsung, The Economist, and Fujitsu.

Micael has been voted “the business community’s most popular speaker” in Sweden, and in September 2021 he was ranked second in the world in the latest global ranking of researchers in his field by the Journal of Business Research.

Micael’s latest book, “More Numbers Every Day: How Data, Stats, and Figures Control Our Lives and How to Set Ourselves Free“, explores how numbers and measurements affect us. Co-written with Norwegian research colleague Helge Thorbjørnsen, professor at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), the book delves into how we rate and count everything—from money and friends to eating habits and calories. We’re constantly counting, and that influences not only how we think but also how we feel. Should everything really be quantified?

He has previously written “A Little Book About the Meaning of Life” a sort of follow-up to his earlier work ” Little Book About Happiness”. Both books are based on research about how happiness works and what makes us feel good – and they have been widely discussed and appreciated by readers and media alike.
